Made in USA. The men's 2013 MSR Lightning Axis Snowshoes are the product of years of research and development, and the result is first-class efficiency and security in a go-anywhere / all-terrain snowshoe. The Lightning Axis features the MSR Snowshoes revolutionary Axis Gait Efficiency system, allowing the binding to adjust laterally on the snowshoe to compensate for your personal toe-in/toe-out posture—this keeps the snowshoes aligned for maximally ergonomic strides. The comfortable SpeedLock Bindings only need to be set once (when using the same snowshoeing footwear), and operating the binding is as simple as sliding your foot in and twisting it to center, then tightening the heel strap.
The MSR Lightning Axis snowshoes include an optional in-step strap for added stability in uneven terrain. MSR’s 360° traction frames and pivot crampons bite in any snow type for grip that a traditional tubular-frame snowshoe simply cannot match, particularly on traverses; super-light urethane decking is durable and waterproof; and the integrated Ergo Televator heel lift, which can be engaged/disengaged by hand or with the grip of a snowshoe pole, radically reduces leg muscle fatigue on steep ascents. What’s more, the Lightning Axis is compatible with the optional 5” MSR Lightning flotation tails (sold separately, see accessories below) for enhanced traction and flotation in deep snow or when carrying a pack.
